WILLOW SERVICE CENTER

Willow Service Center is located in West Oakland and allows EBMUD to advance its long-term infrastructure investment goals by providing a service yard facility to accommodate their Oakland-area pipeline construction and maintenance crews. The new essential facility will house 49 office and field employees and provide staging areas for EBMUD pipeline crew vehicles and associated office functions.

The site will accommodate a 6,000 s.f. administrative building, a 700 s.f. warehouse with attached loading dock, site security kiosk, parking for 50 employee and 50 district vehicles; outdoor material storage and emergency generators. Photovoltatic panels will be installed on a canopy above the employee parking lot to achieve net zero energy usage and 100% future electric vehicle charging is being planned in anticipation of the full conversion of district vehicles from diesel to electric. The entire site is surrounded by concrete security walls that will support public artwork and vegetation.

Managing client needs with neighborhood group feedback has been crucial in our endeavor to balance the functional needs of EBMUD with the aesthetic, safety and pollution concerns of the West Oakland community.
